The Bay Vista Story: Always a Warm Family Welcome!

Our goal is to make your family feel both welcome and relaxed during your stay with us on Prince Edward Island. In 2017 we started our 41st tourism season. Over the years we have hosted weddings, rehearsal dinners, birthdays, senior Olympics, school and team groups, as well as corporate golf groups.

Arnold and his mother (Dorothy) started working at the motel in 1974; Dorothy in the office and Arnold working in the restaurant and lounge called the Fiddles n’ Vittles.

In May of 1977 Dorothy and George Smith were approached to see if they wanted to purchase the motel, they declined, but Arnold, his sister Vivian and her husband Fulton decided to buy the motel. So on the first day of August 1977, the motel became a Smith-Younker adventure.

We have come a long way since then when the rooms had double beds, black and white televisions, and an unheated outdoor pool! Brrrrrrrr! Over the years we have been constantly renovating, upgrading, and enlarging our rooms to offer more services and amenities. For those of our guests who have been coming for years you just have to take a glance across the property to see the many expansions, new buildings and upgrades since 1977 which have earned us a 3.5 star rating.

In 2014 the Bay Vista came under new management, with Zoe and Christina leading the way, following in the previous owners footsteps running the motel as a family friendly place to stay.

We appreciate you choosing to stay with our family while your family vacations on PEI. Whether you are visiting on your own or a family of six, the Bay Vista is your home away from home.
